Dentsu International Launches Sports Marketing Unit in India; Appoints former cricketer Anand Yalvigi as manager

Dentsu International has announced the launch of its sports marketing unit in India. The launch is supported by Dentsu Sports International (DSI) – headquartered in Tokyo, and Dentsu Sports Asia (DSAsia), in Singapore. For the record, DSI and DSAsia are global agencies that harness the power of sport to impact human behavior through meaningful marketing solutions and experiences. DSI draws on in-depth knowledge and its network of seasoned and highly experienced team members to make powerful connections between sports properties and brands. Its main mission is to be the most insightful and impactful sports marketing company in the world.

The sports marketing unit was born from the Dentsu Group, one of the world’s largest and most trusted marketing communications companies. In India, the unit will operate under DSAsia.

Dentsu Sports Asia will operate with more than 200 people across the world in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and New Zealand. Based in Japan, Dentsu Sports Asia will own the rights to the world of sports, including federations, leagues, events, teams, publishers and venues. Dentsu International has appointed former cricketer Anand Yalvigi as director of this new vertical for India. With nearly 20 years of sports marketing experience, Yalvigi is a former Ranji player. Previously he played for Mumbai and Karnataka. Yalvigi has successfully launched and worked with several sports management companies including Ignite Sports, Havas Sports, Network Sports and Nimbus. He was also instrumental in building the Kochi IPL team. He has been constantly involved in designing unique sporting concepts for various brands with an affinity for cricket – his main field. In his new role, Yalvigi will report to Haresh Nayak, COO Dentsu International, Media brands.
