With the new NIL rules in place, the North Carolina quarterback Sam howell has a deal ahead of the 2021 season. According to a report, confirmed by Howell on social media, the Tar Heels quarterback has signed with a sports marketing agency.
He is the last quarterback to sign a deal. Oklahoma quarterback Sam Rattler even has a deal with fast food chain Raisin ‘Canes.
Howell signed with Everett Sports Marketing and is now with the same company as a new rookie quarterback.
“UNC QB and choice of projected high draft Sam howell (@ Sam7Howell) signed with Everett Sports Marketing for his NIL Marketing according to his Instagram bio, ” Tuscaloosa News’ Brett Greenberg tweeted. “The same company also represents Patriot’s current QB. Mac Jones. “
Jones signed with the company and was drafted 15th overall by the New England Patriots this spring. Now, Howell is leaping onto the sports marketing front while still in school, one of the many benefits that varsity athletes have achieved this summer.
Last season, Howell finished the year with 3,586 yards, 30 touchdowns, seven interceptions, a 68.1% completion percentage, 146 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. In two seasons (25 games), Howell totaled 7,227 yards, 68 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, a 64.4% completion percentage, 181 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.
He will be a Heisman favorite this coming season as North Carolina may have their best opportunity to win the ACC and advance to the college football playoffs. Clemson is always on the way, but great quarterback play is everything.
Join Sirius XM NFL Radio in May, head coach of North Carolina Mack Brown explained why Howell will be one of the top prospects overall next season.
“Sam howell is the main reason we have made the progress we have in two years, ”said Brown. “He entered the last year of high school as the first registrant in January. He has started every game since he’s been here. He’s smart, he’s smooth. Many people compare him, because of his stature, to Baker Mayfield. He can run a lot better than you think. He has quick feet. He’s hard as nails. He can throw it whether he’s in the pocket or on the run, he’s very precise and has quick release. He is married to football. He’s in the office more than me.
“Do people say you think he’s coming back?” I really don’t. If this is the year he wants to go, I want him and I hope he will, I think he will be a top draft pick in the draft and I think he will leave. Our job is to educate guys on what we know and what scouts, general managers and coaches are saying about them. Then it’s up to them to make a decision.
“People say ‘you’re already acting like he’s leaving.’ I think he will. I think he’ll have that kind of year and that kind of opportunity. is already in a position in his mind where if this happens he will want to take it to the next level.
